Bellevue's nine fire stations will be collecting toy donations for families in need from Nov. 21 through Dec. 7.

The toys will go to children at the Crossroads Community Center's annual holiday party, which takes place Dec. 15 from 4:30-7 p.m.

More than 1,500 families received help from the center last year, and the number is expected to be higher this year as Eastside human-services organizations are reporting unprecedented demand for assistance due to the recession.

Suggested donations include new, unwrapped toys, books, game, gift certificates and sports equipment.

Plush animals and gift certificates are needed for infants and toddlers, while gift certificates for clothing restaurants, malls and music stores are recommended for teens.

Monetary donations are also accepted.

The Bellevue fire-station locations are:

• 766 Bellevue Way Southeast (Downtown/West Bellevue)

• 2802 148th Avenue Southeast (Eastgate/Lake Hills/W. Lake Sammamish)

• 16100 Northeast Eight Street (Crossroads/Northeast Bellevue)

• 4216 Factoria Boulevard Southeast (Factoria/Somerset)

• 9621 Northeast 24th Street (Northwest Bellevue)

• 1850 132nd Avenue Northeast (Bridle Trails/Wilberton)

• 11900 Southeast Eight Street (Wilburton/Woodridge)

• 5701 Lakemont Boulevard Southeast (Eastgate/Cougar Mountain)

• 12412 Southeast 69th Way (Newport)
