Program seeking drivers to help seniors
December 2, 2008 · Updated 10:45 AM
The Senior Services’ Transportation Program is asking people to give the gift of mobility this season by volunteering to drive people to medical appointments.
Melissa R. Tribelhorn, Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator, says the program each week must turn away “10, 15, or 20 seniors who call us for help due to the shortage of drivers.”
The program offers flexibility, Tribelhorn said.
“You drive your own vehicle and choose the weekdays, times and areas in which you’d like to drive. We offer mileage reimbursement and supplemental liability insurance.”
