Bellevue nonprofit makes donation to help Lake Hills Elem. families

Downtown Action to Save Housing (DASH), the largest non-profit affordable housing builder on the Eastside, presented a grant for $23,000 to the Lake Hills Elementary PTSA to support housing services Monday, June 2.

The donated funds will be used to assist Lake Hills families with housing deposits, rent, transitional housing, moving expenses, interest-free loans, utility bills, food and metro bus passes. Some of the neighborhood partners involved are Wrap-Around Services, Hopelink, Salvation Army, Eastside Domestic Violence and Home 2 Home.

Most recently 30 students and their families were affected by the nearby Highcroft Apartment renovation. Families were given limited notice about the renovation and were required to find alternate housing during that time. Once the renovation is complete, residents can apply to move back into the apartments. However, their once affordable rents will increase significantly. The DASH grant is available to help these families.

DASH was established in 1991 to preserve affordable housing in downtown Bellevue. DASH has since expanded this mission to create affordable housing throughout King County communities.
