Former Bellevue police officer authors book

November 21, 2012 · Updated 11:36 AM

John Hansen, a former member of the Bellevue Police Department who retired in 1992, has authored a book, "Song of the Waterwheel," about his 28-year marriage to his wife, Kristene. Hansen, who now lives in Arizona, wrote the book after his wife died of breast cancer in 2009.

"I was devastated after Kristene died of breast cancer in June 2009, and began writing the story of our odds-defying marriage of 28 years," Hansen said.

The book tells how the Hansens, though they faced trials of their own, including near-divorce, financial collapse and Kristene’s untimely death, stayed strong in their love and faith.

Hansen will be the featured guest writer in the lobby at Lake Sammamish Foursquare Church, 14434 NE Eighth St., Bellevue during and after the 10 a.m. service Dec. 2.

Hansen now is a self-employed private investigator and author of short stories about the outdoors.

The book, $39.99 hardcover and $27.99 paperback, is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
