Four Bellevue School District jazz bands earned honors at the recent Auburn-Riverside Jazz Festival.

Earning first place in the middle-school division was the Chinook Middle School Jazz Band, led by Todd Mahaffey. Second-place honors in the AAA-division went to Sammamish High School's Jazz Band, led by Mark Wilbert, and in the AA-division to Bellevue High School's Jazz Band II, led by Edd George. Third-place in the AAA-division was awarded to Bellevue High School's Jazz Band I, also led by George.

Named as festival outstanding soloists were Bellevue High School Jazz Band I performers senior Max Bates on alto saxophone, junior Brian Lawrence on tenor saxophone and junior Nolan Tsang on flugelhorn, as well as Sammamish sophomore Ben Acone on piano and Chinook's Sean Mahoney, 8th grade, on vibes.
