Employment Security awards funds for volunteer projects

Habitat for Humanity of East King County has been awarded $52,000 for 15 Washington Service Corps members, who will train, supervise and support volunteers who help build homes for families earning less than 50 percent of the median income for King County.

Habitat for Humanity of East King County has been awarded $52,000 for 15 Washington Service Corps members, who will train, supervise and support volunteers who help build homes for families earning less than 50 percent of the median income for King County.

The grant comes from the state Employment Security Department.

In addition, the organization, Solid Ground, received $189,000 to support 63 Washington Reading Corps members, who will provide tutoring to pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students in King County public schools.
