EBay moves, expands offices in Bellevue
January 17, 2013 · 3:48 PM
A new lease at the One Bellevue Center building in downtown Bellevue, will double eBay's current office space in Redmond, and accommodate a growing workforce. The lease, signed for 53,000 square feet, will include three full floors at the 21-story building and will make room for 350 employees.
EBay, a California e-commerce company, joins the ranks of Google and Facebook, which have also established satellite offices in the Northwest. Its most recent move to Bellevue will add to what city businesses and officials call a high-tech hub.
The lease will bring One Bellevue Center's vacancy rate from 37 percent six months ago, to 21 percent. Like much of downtown the tower suffered soaring vacancy rates and costly re-marketing projects after the real-estate crash.
EBay's employment base is expected to expand alongside its office space. Since moving to Redmond, Ken Moss, company vice president, says that employment has already more than doubled.
