Total Wine and More hopes to set record

While this summer’s Olympics has its synchronized swimming, Bellevue retailer Total Wine & More aims to make a splash of a different sort – synchronized wine bottle opening, with an exclusive focus on Washington state wines!

On Thursday, July 12 at 4 p.m., the newly open retailer will attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the “Most people uncorking wine simultaneously,” and is calling on members of the wine industry as well as the general public to take part in the spirited feat.

The current record stands at 308 bottles of wine uncorked simultaneously, set earlier this year by Bon Appetit’s Vegas Uncork’d event at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

Each bottle must be opened by one individual, and Total Wine & More is currently enlisting local participants to help set the record. Participants must be 21 years of age and over, and can register now at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3856179938.

Total Wine & More in Bellevue officially opened its doors on June 28 at 699 120th Avenue, Northeast (formerly Larry’s Market).
